Network Hub? types,advantages,disadvantages

A network Hub is a device used for connecting multiple twisted pair or fiber optic Ethernet devices together and act them as into a single network.

• It is an electronic device that implements the network using the star topology.
• A hub uses the physical layer of the OSI model.
• A hub can connect different nodes using twisted pair cable or fiber optic cable.
• In the hub, the signals received on the one node can transmit to all the nodes.
• When a computer sends the data to the hub it replicates the data to all devices connected to the network.
• The data sent in the form of frames (01010).
• A hub is a central point device in a network.
• A dump hub can allow only one computer to transmits data.
• An intelligence hub can allow multiple computers for receiving and sending data.
• Hub devises the speed of data between the total nodes that are connected.
• HUB divides the speed of data between the total nodes that are connected.

ex. If network data speed is coming  100 Mbps and 10 nodes are connected in the network so he divides the speed up to 10 Mbps to each node.

Suppose if network data speed is coming 100 Mb/sec and 10 nodes are connected in the network so hub devices the speed up to 10 Mb/sec to each node.

The disadvantage of Hub is it has unnecessary traffic and wastage of bandwidth

What is the Network Hub?

Hub is a Network Device that is used to connect multiple devices. So that they could transfer data between themselves. Amplify and regenerate Hub Signal too. Hub has lots of ports, so it is also called Multiple Port Repeater. Like the Network Switch and Router, Hub's Routing Table and Intelligence are not.

Network Hub

When a host sends the Frame, then Forward Frames are forwarded to all ports. It also does not do different types of frames, then the frame is Uni-Cast or Multicast or if it is Broadcast it lets all the frames forward in all ports. The frame accepts the same, which is similar to the Destination Mac Address Field of the Mac address frame, the rest hosts discard after receiving it.

Simply put, a Hub is connected to many systems from the Star Topology Diagram and when a system communicates with another system, it will first go to the Packet Hub from the sender system, then Hub will send that packet to all the systems and The system whose IP address match accepts that packet and the rest of the system leaves those packets.

Types Of Network Hub

Active Hub

It does not require a power supply. It also regresses Signal and increases the Signal as well. These hubs do not require electricity to work. This type of hub is used only as a connector. They are also called Multiport Repeater.

Passive Hub

In the same situation where the signal remains, it sends forward to the signal. It does not regenerate any signal. Passive Hub does not regenerate any signals nor does it amplify. It is also used as a repeater.

Intelligence Hub

It can easily do all the tasks that both Active Hub and Passive Hub can do. This helps administer Monitor Network Traffic. An individual can configure each of its ports. The location of the problem through the Intelligence Hub can be identified.

Advantages

It supports various types of Network Media.

It is very cheap that anyone can use it.

Using the Hub does not make any difference in Network performance.

Many different media types can be easily connected with Hub.
