Paging System

The paging system is a communication system and they can transmit brief messages to subscribers. The message sent may be an alpha-numeric message or voice data. It also includes news headlines faxes and stores quotations.

Types of a paging system:-

I). Manual paging system:-In a manual paging system, a message is sent to the paging operator through a telephone call by the caller. The message is delivered to the pager through a paging network by the operator.
II). Automatic paging system:-Automatic paging system is mostly used for paging. In an automatic paging system, the coming requests are automatically processed by the paging terminal and then this information is delivered to the pager.

· Messages in paging system:-
One of the following four types of information. Messages can be delivered in a
paging system.

i.Alert tone message
ii. Voice message
iii. Digital string message
iv. Text string message

·Disadvantages:- In a wide area paging system, a paging control center is
available that connects the PSTN to different paging terminals.
The paging systems enable communication with subscribers but the system requires large transmitted powers in order of kilowatts.
It is helpful in sending short messages which are highly used by subscribers.
It requires low data rates and a large transmitter power requirement.
